2nd Panorama of New Independent Film and Video Makers of Thessaloniki (2000)

The curtain of the 2nd Panorama has fallen with the bestowal of the awards and the memorials to all the directors who took part, and with the honorary manifestation to Takis Kanellopoulos.

The President of the Panorama Mr. Zahos Samoladas, the President of DEPTHE Mr. Antonis Gyftopoulos, the Responsible of the Press Office and Public Relations of The National Defense Mr. Giorgos Mamoukaris and the representative of SSAS Mr. Panagiotis Dadinis gave the awards. Natassa Karahisarli presented the Award Ceremony. The award movies were:

  “Toroneo Passage” by Akis Kersanidis (32')
  “Spaghetti Western” by Giannis Tsitsimis (34')
  “Insomnia” by Arsenis Polymenopoulos (9')
  “Psychedelique Essence” by Kostas Fourkiotis (7')

The 2nd Panorama took place with the support of the Municipal Organization of Spectacle and Communication and the Ministry of National Defense.



3rd International Panorama of Independent Film Makers (2001)

     In a successful and festive clime the curtain of the 3rd International Panorama of Independent Filmmakers has fallen, in Saturday 20 October 2001 that the Cinema Club of TUCT has organized.
     In the full of fans screening room of TUCT were were representatives of local and cultural organizations of Thessaloniki as well as ambassadors of the countries their films were screened in the Panorama.
     After a short speech with subject “Cinema and Thessaloniki”, the representative of the mayor of Thessaloniki, Vasilis Gakis, gave the awards of the directors that won in the competition part. Memorials were given in all the directors that took part by the President of TUCT Mr N.Giannopoulos , the President of OTA Mr. Mparmpounakis, the President of the Cultural Center of OTE employees of Thessaloniki, the representative of Comvos NET Mr. Elias Galanis.
After the determination of the critic team of the 3rd International Panorama (President Mr. Nikos Billilis) the awards were nominated to the films:

Best Foreign Film Award

 “Appel D'Air” by Arnault Labaronne (France)

Best Greek Film Award
  “Summer Night Dream” by Dimitris Athanitis

The increased number of spectators and their warm participation during the Panorama overcame all the ambitions of the committee of organization and was bind to repeat the Panorama with greater ambitions and goals with purpose to improve the Cinema in Thessaloniki



 

4th International Panorama of Independent Film Makers (2002)

The “curtain” of the 4th International Panorama of Independent Film Makers went down in a successful celebration, in Saturday 5 October, organized by the Cinema Club of TUCT with the handing-over of the awards and the commemorative diplomas of attendance in all the participants. 

In the full of visitors and directors screening room of the TUCT there were also representatives of local cultural organizations of Thessaloniki as also as ambassadors of countries of the films that took part in the Panorama.

The program of the ceremony started with the concert of Irene Lolou and her band who sang songs of the East Mediterranean.

The awards were given by the representative of the Mayor, Mr. Stavros Kalafatis, the president of OTA link of Major Thessaloniki Mr. Babis Barbounakis the president of TUC Mr. Nikos Giannopoulos, the representative of the General Secretary of Youth Babis Papaioannou and the representative os SSAS Mr. Panagiotis Dadinis. There were also given the commemorative diplomas of attendance in all the participants by the cinema club of TUC.

Τhe cinema club of TUC gave a special award in the film of Athena Ksenidou “Non-Lived Memories” for its emotion.

The high number of participations from Greece and around the world as well as the high number and the warm welcome of the viewers during the Panorama, over passed the expectations of the organization team and made it renew their meeting in the next Panorama which will take place at 28 September till 4 October 2003.

 

The International Panorama of Independent Film Makers which with its presence shows that there is a continuity in it, giving a place of free expression in Greek and foreign directors without films that will be excluded by it, and respecting the ideology and the culture of each director.

 

We must say that this try is something very genuine for our country and for the city of Thessaloniki especially as the International Panorama is organized by local organizations and it takes place in Thessaloniki without losing its international dimension.

 



 

5th International Panorama of Independent Film Makers (2002)

In a succesfull and celebrating atmosphere the «5th International Panorama of Independent Filmmakers», organized by the Cinema Club, finished on Saturday the 4th of October,  with the award and the special award ceremony.

 

In a show room of the T.U.C.Th. full of spectators and the contributing directors, where also representatives of local and cultural bodies presented, together with embasadors of contributiong countries to the Panorama.

The Cinema Club team gave a special award to a film for its FEELING, that was this year the film “To trapezi pou sernoume” (The table we draw) of Lydia Konsta, while the special award of the pagazine “Cinesyllogi'' was awarded by the representative of the magazine Mrs. Eleni Melissanidou to the film  ‘‘I gefsi ton aionon''  by Zachos Samoladas, greek feature film, and finally the company Phoenixnet awarded the best greek feature film "O 13os Theos" byVasili Blioumi with the design and hospitality of personal web page.

The increased number of participating Greek directors (44 directors) and 114 directors from 30 countries (a number double than last year) together with the increased number and the warm participation of our spectators throughout the whole duration of Panorama, overcame the expectation of the organizing committee  to renew our appointment for the next Panorama that will take place from the 28th of September until the 4th of October of 2004.

 

The International Panorama of Independent Filmamakers, which shows with its presence that there is continuing  in this festival, offering a place of free expresion of film and video makers, with respect to the values and culture of each country and each creator seperately.

 

We should point out that this effort is pioneer in our country and especialy for our city Thessaloniki, since the “International Panorama” is organized and becoming a reality by bodies amd people of Thessalonikiand and is based naturally in Thessaloniki, without loosing its international dimension.

 

Besides we can now say that we dared the biggest venture ever done by local bodies of our city.



6 th International Panorama of Independent filmmakers 2004

Awards "…t he vision becomes reality…"

On Saturday, 9 th October the curtain of the 6 th International Panorama of Independent Film- and Video makers which was organised by the Cinema Club of the Trades Union Centre of Thessalonica (T.U.C.Th.) fell in a successful and festive atmosphere with the awards ceremony of 6 th International Panorama and the 1 st International Competition of Photography which had the subject "Photographing like Cinema'"

In the events room of the T.U.C.Th., which was full of the audience and the participating directors, there were the representatives of local and cultural institutions of the city as well as consuls of the countries where the films that participated in the Panorama came from.

The program of the ceremony included:

A tribute to the filmmaker of Thessalonica Nikos Bililis with the screening of the documentary "Cheerful Thessalonica" with newsreel footage of the decade of 1960 from the life in Thessalonica.

The non-governmental organisation "Children in Action" organised an alternative happening on the subject of the anti-globalisation, while the organisation committee of the 6 th International Panorama amazed "digitally" the public that were there for the "last trip to the dream ". The International Panorama of Independent Film- and Videomakers gave a platform for the free expression to directors both from Greece and other countries of the world without censorship and control, respecting the culture and the principles of every people and every film- and videomaker separately.

It must be noted here that this is a pioneering effort for our country and specifically for the city of Thessalonica , as the "International Panorama" is organised and realised by individuals who live in Thessalonica and, of course, it has its seat in Thessalonica, without losing its international dimension.


Awards of 7 th International Panorama of Independent Filmmakers 2005

“….celebration for free expression, celebration for the youth”

144 films and 45 countries

The 7 th International Panorama of Independent Filmakers finished on Saturday 1 st of October in a successful and celebrating atmosphere. Panorama was organized by the Non Profitable Company called « Ι nternational Panorama of Independent Filmakers» with the cooperation of the cultural company “Screen” and the on line magazine for the alternative culture Cineek magazine ( www.cineek.gr ) under the aegis of Municipality of Rentis .

The final celebration included the grant of rewards and special distinctions of 7 th International Panorama, as well as the 2 nd International Competition of Photography with the subject of “Points of Contact”.

The International Panorama of Independent Films and Videos Creators, with its presence in Athens, shows that there is a continuity and consequence in the institution giving an expression of freedom in Greek and Foreign Creators without exclusions of any expediencies respecting the culture and values of each culture and creator separately.

This is a pioneer effort for our country as the International Panorama is the unique cinematographic festival in Southern and Eastern Europe without preliminary Committee without censorship and examination.

It should be emphasized that special interest was stressed by cultural masterminds to show the awarded films in Kalamata, Patras and with the collaboration of Central Union of Municipal and Perfectoral Councils of Youth in Greece they will be shown in above 80 Municipalities and Prefectures (with the frequency of twice a week), while in Athens will shown on the workshop of Spyros Vasiliou, in Ash in Art , in the Centre of Juridical Studies and as pre-festival events of 8 th International Panorama.

At the fully of visitors and participating directors room of municipal cinema “Cine-Oniro”(Cinema the Dream) of Renti Municipality the Chairman of Society of Greek Directors Mr. H. Papadopoulos, the Chairman of Union of Greek Scenario Writers Mr. Al. Kakavas as well as representatives of Embassy of Cyprus and Chile and representatives of local and cultural institutions of Athens were presented.
